Some advise would be helpful. I'm looking for a very cost effective solution (cheapest) as the will eventually be properly converted. I only need to board out to allow for storage for the next 2-3years.

I'm looking to avoid the need for Loft Legs and fix boards directly to the joists. I will have some insulation between the joists but only to 100mm. I am then considering installing the existing insulation to the rood rafters...

I have got a roofer in to do the job, the job has now been done but I can still see daylight through the tiles where the two houses meet. This doesn’t seem right to me. If I can see out surely rain can get in?

Just after a bit of advice on the way forward and if it needs anyone to look at it.

On the internal wall between us and our neighbour, there are damp marks. It's a mid-terrace from the early 1900s. There doesn't seem to be any particular pattern as to when it gets worse, but we first noticed after we had plastering done when we moved in two years ago. They're halfway up the wall, so doesn't look like rising damp, and run in a line along the wall and in the storage space under the...

I have Yale P1 lock installed but I am having issue that it needs to be slammed to fully close the door! I’m worried especially the door has stained glass and don’t want it to be damaged over time.

The key in main body appear to be fine and can be fully turned and the latch retracts easily when you play with the lock handle.

But when you want to close the door without having to use the lock handle, it needs to be slammed.

The gap between main lock and secondary body in...

Trying to determine most cost effective solution (for my elderly mother) to either replace 2 rotten wooden garage windows of 1800x1120 or brick up openings. I can buy the replacement UPVC windows for £130 each but she would have to pay to have fitted.
Any advice appreciated.

Looking for a heating engineer that's good with electrics!

We've a problem with our central heating. The control box - or 'Wiring Centre' as it's properly named - for the twin Grundfos pumps has gone pop. This box came as part of the Grundfos Pump Plan kit, but Grundfos stopped supplying the control box a few years ago.

The box has a PCB inside it, with a small relay, a couple or three resistors, and a 2.5 quick blow fuse. The pumps, stats, and boiler are all wired into this....

I’ve been looking into it and slightly gutted the only way I’ll go about getting any experience / a job is a few years as an apprentice after doing level 1 / 2 city and guilds. I’ve got a mortgage and no hope of paying that on a £3.90 p/h appreciate wage! I do however appreciate you’ve gotta put the graft in

I’ve finally just about finished my diy bathroom attempt and al in all I’m very surprised at how well my timing etc has turned out.

thing is, I’m now scared about drilling the tiles to fit the heated towel rail as I’ve already damaged one part of a tile trying to do so and it’s fairly annoying.

question is what are people’s thoughts on me using some grab adhesive or silicone to fit the fixing brackets and then 24h later slotting the heated towel rail on the the brackets ?...
